JON MAXSON

CEO, Senior Partner, Co-Owner

Over 15 years ago, Jon was working with Pete’s wife, Ginnie, in the corporate world with a very promising career ahead. However, he felt a strong desire to do something that would more directly impact people’s lives. Knowing that Pete was looking for a business partner who shared his personal and business philosophies, Ginnie connected the two, and soon after, they formed Beacon Capital Management.

Jon has passed the Series 66 securities exam and holds life and health insurance licenses. He has been featured on several news outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fox Business, Reuters, CNBC, WSMV News Channel 4 and WTN Talk Radio 99.7.

Jon met his wife, Mary Ann, while attending Tennessee Temple University. During the first 13 years of their marriage, they were childless. Since then, God has richly blessed them with three sons, Nathan, Noah and Nealan. While the business and three young sons keep Jon and Mary Ann extremely busy, they also remain very involved in their local church.

PETE BENSON

Senior Partner, Co-Owner

Pete has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He co-founded Beacon Capital Management in 2000, seeking to be his clients’ last advisor.

While studying for his master’s degree in counseling at Eastern Nazarene College in Boston, Pete discovered a passion for helping people with their finances. This developed into a vision of owning a business that focused solely on providing honest, simple financial advice for people of all ages. Since then, this vision has expanded, providing opportunities for Pete to speak to groups in the U.S., Canada and Europe. He has also been featured in several media outlets, such as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fox Business, Reuters, CNBC, WSMV News Channel 4 and WTN Talk Radio 99.7.

Pete passed the Series 6, 63 and 66 securities exams and holds life and health insurance licenses. He serves on the board of the L.D. Buckingham Leadership Institute, as well as the board of his alma mater, Kingswood University in Sussex, New Brunswick.

Pete is married to “the girl next door,” his high school sweetheart, Ginnie. They have three children and seven grandchildren. Pete and Ginnie are active in their church and other nonprofit organizations. In his spare time, Pete enjoys reading, working out, travel, family and church.

DAN BENSON, CFP®

Executive Vice President, Financial Advisor

Beacon Capital Management’s second employee, Dan focuses on each and every client he interacts with.

Dan earned a business administration degree from Southern Wesleyan University on a soccer scholarship. While doing a summer internship with Pete and Jon, he developed a passion for helping people reach their financial goals. After graduating, Dan joined Beacon Capital Management as a financial advisor.

Dan has passed the Series 66 securities exam and holds life and health insurance licenses. He has also earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. Throughout his over 10-year career in the financial industry, he has been featured on WSMV News Channel 4 and WTN Talk Radio 99.7. Along with Pete, he co-authored the book “Financial Fitness.”

Dan is married to Mandy and has three children: two beautiful daughters, Kayleigh and Imogen Rose, and a very active son, Connor. He enjoys family, sports and travel.

TYRON DRAPER, CFP®

Financial Advisor

Tyron (Ty) is a middle Tennessee native and grew up in Mt. Juliet. He attended the University of Tennessee Knoxville and graduated from Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN.

While pursuing his MBA at Cumberland University, his father passed away leaving a small manufacturing company that he owned for over a decade. He has been a prior Treasurer of the Green Hills Rotary Club earning the Rotarian of the Year Award in 2016. During that same time period, he was selected and served two terms on the CATV Board for Nashville’s Metro Council.

Ty passed the Series 63 and 65 securities exams and holds health and life insurance licenses. He has also earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. Ty enjoys the challenge of helping people to achieve their financial goals by developing and executing a detailed financial plan.

Ty and his wife, Amy, reside in Franklin with their two children, Hadley and John. Ty speaks regularly to groups on the role of being an engaged and effective father/leader. In his spare time, he enjoys golf and other outdoor activities with his family.

BILL ROGERS

Financial Advisor

After growing up watching his parents struggle to make ends meet, Bill Rogers became a full-time employee at age 19 at one of the world’s largest financial firms. Bill’s humble beginnings motivated him to learn all he could about economics, financial planning, global currency and any other finance-related subject in order to understand how to make money work for him and his family and to help others to do the same.

Bill pursued advanced studies in financial planning, economics and history at Jacksonville University and the University of North Florida. With continued education, he was able to rise quickly through the ranks of the firm and was eventually chosen to be a key member of the business resumption team, which maintained operations in the event of business disruptions.

After 10 years, Bill made the hard decision to leave the firm in order to become an independent advisor, after 6 years of developing and honing his skills, he set his sights on joining Beacon Capital Management, where he helps clients create efficient, comprehensive financial plans. Bill passed the Series 6 and 66 exams and holds life and health insurance licenses.

Bill and his wife, Jessica, have one son, Rion Slade. In his spare time, Bill enjoys fishing, boating, listening to music, going to concerts, camping and being outdoors.

DAVID LEE BUSELMEIER, CFP®

Financial Advisor

David Lee entered the financial services industry to make a difference in the lives of people from all walks of life. His areas of focus include budgeting, retirement planning, tax planning and investment analysis.

David Lee graduated from Western Kentucky University with degrees in Corporate Financial Management as well as Personal Financial Planning. After graduation, he earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. He also passed the Series 66 securities exam and holds life and health Insurance licenses.

David Lee is very passionate about his faith and genuinely cares about everyone he sits down with. He and his wife, Morgan, both love living in Nashville and are active members of their church, Brentwood Church of Christ. Outside of work, David Lee loves playing sports, spending time in the outdoors, and cheering for the Nashville Predators.

CHASE GRUNDY

Financial Advisor/ Paraplanner

Chase joined the Beacon family to help our advisory team provide excellent client service. He’s passionate about getting to know new people and learning the stories of their lives. His favorite part of the job is helping clients achieve their retirement goals and leave a strong legacy for their loved ones.

“My father passed away unexpectedly at 53 years old, and neither my mother or father had taken the time to sit with an advisor and plan for the unexpected,” Chase says. “The impact of watching my mother pick up those pieces confirmed the importance and impact a financial advisor can have — and ignited a passion in me to help other families plan for the unexpected.”

Chase graduated from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He has passed the Series 66 securities exam and holds licenses in life and health insurance.

Away from the office, Chase loves playing golf, traveling and hiking with his girlfriend, Jesse, and their furry best friends, Hank, Leia and Riley.

JUSTIN RADFORD

Service Advisor

Justin spent 25 years serving our country in the United States Air Force, both as an enlisted airman and as a commissioned officer.

He holds a Bachelors of Science in Accounting, a Masters of Business Administration, and a Masters of Military Arts and Science. During his 25 year Air Force career, Justin received 17 annual awards for outstanding performance and was presented with the Meritorious Service Medal for efforts in building the international coalition to defeat ISIS.

During his Air Force career, he served in various roles, including: Financial Specialist, Aircraft Mechanic and Maintenance Officer, Squadron Commander, and as Command Inspector. When the time came to retire, he wanted to find a second career that utilized his strengths developed in the military, such as educating, planning, complex problem solving, and making a difference in people’s lives.

Justin loves learning and believes that a failure to plan is a plan to fail. Justin passed the Series 66 exam, and is a City Leader with Bunker Labs, a national nonprofit helping veteran entrepreneurs accelerate their businesses. He and his wife moved to Franklin in 2018, and together they have five children.

NICK SHOULTA

Service Advisor

Nick graduated from Western Kentucky University where he is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and completed his Bachelor’s degree in Finance, concentrating in Financial Planning.

Although, Nick knew he wanted do something in the business school, he struggled to choose a major in college. Being from a small town in Kentucky, it was important to him that he choose a career that would help families, just like his, which is how he fell in love with financial planning.

Nick was drawn to Beacon’s comprehensive approach to financial planning. He wants his clients to understand there are many chapters to their financial story, and sticking to their long term plan is key.

Nick passed the Series 66 exam, and holds the TN Life and Health Insurance licenses.

Nick moved to Nashville in 2020 and loves to play golf, hunt, fish, and be outdoors. He also enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Rose and his dog Belle.

FRANKIE MERRITT

Director of Healthcare Planning

Frankie is responsible for assisting clients with insurance and Medicare coverage.

Frankie started his career in the financial and insurance industry in 2007 as a Registered Investment Advisor with MetLife. He has also worked for John Hancock and State Farm Insurance. Frankie holds life, health, disability, long-term care, and property and casualty licenses. He also passed the Series 65 and 66 securities exams.

Originally from Northern Indiana, Frankie and his wife, Kori, reside in Lebanon, Tennessee, with their three daughters, Kailyn, Sydney and Spencer. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, volunteering for special church projects, reading, movies and traveling.

Patrick is the founder of Beacon Accounting and Tax Services. He has an undergraduate and Masters of Accountancy degree from the University of Tennessee. Patrick worked for Ernst &Young for twelve years. Since then he has spent 20 years as the CFO for public and private companies; emerging and growing businesses as well as turnaround businesses. The one common denominator that he saw with all of these businesses was that the principals needed timely and accurate financial information that was understandable. Patrick decided it was time to take this skill set that he has developed into his own business to help businesses and individuals with their accounting and tax needs. Patrick is married to Cristina and they have been blessed with three children.

BEN CHRISTY

Chief Operating Officer

Ben oversees the operations and marketing teams as well as the assistants.

A native of Nashville, Ben has strong roots in the Franklin community. With over 15 years of marketing experience, Ben has promoted New York Times best-sellers and Grammy award-winning artists, and worked with several nonprofit organizations. Before joining Beacon, Ben worked as a marketing director for Dave Ramsey’s team. In a consulting capacity, Ben works with an elite group of small businesses on strategic operational planning and serves on the board of directors for The Refuge Center for Counseling.

Ben is married to his beautiful wife, Michele, and together they have two wonderful children.

NIKKI BRINKERHOFF

Chief Compliance Officer

With over 20 years of experience in the financial industry, Nikki focuses on compliance policies and oversight to ensure our business processes are efficient and compliant.

Nikki earned a bachelor’s degree at Concordia University and later an MBA at the University of Memphis. Nikki holds the following compliance certifications among others: CISA, CRMA, CRISC and CIA. She is currently a member of the National Society of Compliance Professionals, Institute of Internal Auditors and Information Systems Audit and Control Association.

Nikki has lived in Memphis for over 15 years and enjoys running, waterskiing and spending time with her two daughters.

GINNIE BENSON

General Manager

Ginnie oversees the day-to-day operations of Beacon Capital Management.

During the first 10 years of Pete and Ginnie’s marriage, Ginnie was a stay-at-home mom who taught piano lessons for a second income. Once their three children were in school, she sought out part-time employment through a temporary agency. She was called in for a one-day assignment at Bell South Mobility, which turned into a 13-year career, during which she advanced to the level of director of telesales for Cingular Wireless.

Once grandchildren entered the picture, Ginnie bid farewell to the corporate world to spend time with her family. When she’s not working at the office, she enjoys spending time with Pete and their family, reading, travel, the beach and going to Canada to spend time with family members who live there.

JULIE MOSES

Operations Manager

Our transfer specialist, Julie will make sure you understand the process of moving money from your old account to your new account. She is our resident paperwork expert, and her hands-on approach and attention to detail ensure that each client’s accounts are handled efficiently and effectively.

Julie holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Middle Tennessee State University. Before joining the Beacon team in 2007, she was a security manager at Macy’s for 17 years.

Julie and her husband, Jim, have been married for over 27 years and have three sons, Dalton, Ryan and Kain. They keep very active with baseball activities year round.

RENEE HOOPER

Executive Assistant

Renee joined Beacon Capital Management in March 2016. She came to Beacon as a client one day and was offered a position the next. In her role, she is the executive assistant to Pete Benson and Jon Maxson, and handles their calendars, phone calls and emails from clients.

Renee has a history of customer support and service. Before joining the Beacon team, she had a long career with AT&T.

Renee has a large extended family consisting of three sisters, five nieces and nephews, and 11 great nieces and nephews. Away from the office, she enjoys traveling, reading and dining with friends.

RACHEL WHITMER

Marketing Director

Rachel oversees general client services, event planning, marketing and scheduling for first appointments and workshops.

Rachel attended Cumberland University on a volleyball scholarship and studied business marketing. After graduation, she stayed at Cumberland as a volleyball graduate assistant coach while earning her MBA. Before joining Beacon Capital Management, she worked at Opryland and Drury Plaza as a sales and meeting coordinator. She met Pete Benson through her parents, who are clients, and came onboard the Beacon team in September 2014.

Rachel is married to her college sweetheart, Zach. In December 2018, they welcomed a baby girl Presley Marie to their family. They enjoy sports, boating and the outdoors with their chocolate lab, Gunner.

DEMINA ROGERS

Special Project Manager

Demina joined the Beacon family in December 2016 as a receptionist. Her current job duties include operations and life insurance tasks as well as any special projects.

Demina earned an associate’s degree from the University of Phoenix and has over 10 years of administration and customer service experience. She has strong attention-to-detail skills and enjoys working with people.

Demina and her husband, Clint, enjoy going to concerts, football games, traveling and spending time with their children.

CHRIS KEYS

Servicing Financial Advisor

Chris helps develop customized financial strategies for our clients.

Before joining the team, Chris worked with Beacon Capital Management during his time as a banquet server at Sperry’s Restaurant, where Beacon hosts its seminars. He later joined the operations team before studying to become a financial advisor. He holds life and health insurance licenses and passed the Series 66 securities exam. He also holds an accounting degree from Mississippi College.

Outside of the office, Chris enjoys following his favorite baseball teams, Mississippi State and the Boston Red Sox.

NEAL PHILLIPS

Paraplanner

Neal assists Jon and Pete with planning and appointment prep. He entered the financial planning industry so he could help others reach their goals.

Neal graduated from The University of Alabama with a CFP® Board-certified financial planning degree.

In his spare time, Neal is active in his church and enjoys playing tennis, being outdoors, watching NASCAR and spending time with family.

JENIFER MILLER

Client Relations Administrator

While Jenifer previously cared for patients, she now helps care for our clients!

After earning a bachelor’s degree in public health, Jenifer spent over 15 years in the health care field, where she specialized in case management, health coaching and direct patient care. She eventually thought about changing career paths, and when the opportunity arose to get into financial services, she made the jump.

Outside of the office, Jenifer enjoys hiking, camping and enjoying time with family and friends. She and her husband of over nine years are high school sweethearts and have one daughter and one son.

ELLEN ROPER

Director of First Impressions

Ellen joined Beacon in January of 2019 as the Director of First Impressions. Ellen will be the first smiling face you see when you come to our office. Whether she’s offering you a cup of coffee or a cookie or she’s assisting you with other questions, she will make sure you feel warm and welcome.

A native of Nashville, Ellen graduated from Memphis State University, now known as the University of Memphis. She spent over 26 years at Verizon Wireless in various roles including Customer Service and Business Sales Operations.

In her free time, Ellen loves being around all kinds of animals. She enjoys exercising, reading, gardening and spending time with friends.

BETH PEARCE

Tax Specialist

Beth joined Beacon in 2018 as a Tax Specialist. She works closely with Patrick Min, CPA, preparing tax returns and life applications.

Beth was born and raised in Nashville, TN. She graduated from MTSU in 2006 with a degree in Business Administration with a minor in finance. Beth really enjoys helping people and working as a team to achieve goals. Beth is married to her husband, David and they have a daughter, Ava.

In Beth’s free time she enjoys playing as well as watching volleyball, loves to spend time with her family and enjoys trips to the beach!

DEE DEE WRIGHT

Client Relations Administrator

Dee Dee keeps things running smoothly by completing paperwork, scheduling appointments and answering our phones. She loves serving others and being part of a culture that helps people.

Dee Dee has over 12 years of customer experience. Ten of those years were in management. She holds a Bachelor of Science in sociology with a minor in psychology.

A resident of Murfreesboro, Dee Dee is a member of World Outreach Church and CrossFit Rutherford. She and her husband, Chris, enjoy working out, watching movies, reading, listening to music and hanging out with friends and family.

JENNIFER MILLER

Client Relations Administrator

Jennifer brings more than 10 years of financial services experience to her new position supporting Dan Benson in a client service and administrative role.

“I have a passion for service and helping others,” Jennifer says. “I like helping people organize their financial lives and prepare for retirement. Building trusting relationships through client service has always inspired me.”

Jennifer graduated with a bachelor’s in business administration from the Minnesota School of Business and has passed the Series 66 securities exam.

Outside the office, she enjoys working out at the gym (Burn Boot Camp), traveling and hiking in Utah’s state and national parks. Jennifer also loves to read inspirational and spiritual books and spend time with family and friends.
